Emotional Tilt-Shift Photograph

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 / Personal, Travel /

Alright so I don’t have a tilt-shift lens but I am thinking of getting one soon. Right now I am looking at the TS 45mm 2.8 for Canon as an option. I feel like its just a fad that will be in for a bit then out the next day. But I have seen some really cool stuff done with it so it might be worth the investment. This photograph was taken on the same trip in the Dominican Republic. I just decided to put a little more of an artistic touch to it tonight and thought I would share.

I ended up showing both versions, with and without the lens blur.

Oh and if your wondering how to create this effect yourself in Photoshop check out the Tilt-Shift Photography Tutorial.

Dominican Republic Vintage Retro Photo

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 / Personal, Travel /

Last summer I had an opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic with my church. I have always had this fascination with taking pictures of rail road tracks and when the donkey showed up it just made it that much better. I might have went a little overboard with the distress vintage look but it was fun experimenting at the time. To get this effect I pretty much just warmed the image up in the RAW format. Then overlayed this grunge parchment looking paper on top a few times. I think there might have been some multiply styles as well. To be honest with you after the disease I contracted from this country, its all been kind of a blur.

Omar & Lisa Family At The Beach

Wednesday, April 21, 2010 / Couples, Families /

Alright so this was my second family photo shoot and it was really fun. My sister came with me and was a huge help! I didn’t realize how helpful it can be to have someone with you, especially when a kid is involved. Omar and Lisa’s boy, Jaden, is a straight up GQ model. Baby Gap needs to get this kid a contract. We took all the shots at one location in Deerfield Beach, FL. The office where I work at is actually less then a mile away. Everytime I see these shots I feel terrible for never going to the beach more. This is really a great location to do couples or engagement style photography. You will probably be seeing more pictures from this location in the near future. Don’t worry just a slight change in the weather and a new family and you will barely notice. It was a pretty overcast day and after two hours of shooting it began to rain. Love when that happens.

This one was my favorite shot!

Both of these were my second favorite shots.

This one is really cool too.

My First Wedding With Kevin and Stephanie

Sunday, April 18, 2010 / Weddings /

Alright well since this blog is brand new and all my photos are outdated… I am going to take us back to 2007, when I shot my very first wedding for a friend. Now, at the time I was not even the lead photographer, I just happened to bring my digital SLR and to get some extra shots for my friends. Believe it or not but I was actually a groomsman in this wedding. This was right when I started to really get into photography and enjoy shooting people. At the time I was using a Nikon D40 which really seemed to do the job just fine. Right now I have moved on to the greater world with a 5D Mark II. Anyways just wanted to share a few photos that were taken to give you an idea of how it all started.

Michael & Michele Family Photo Shoot

Tuesday, April 13, 2010 / Couples, Families /

Recently had a really cool photo shoot with my sister and brother-in-law. We went out on the Ridge which used to be where some Indians resided back in the day, before we stole all their land. They have these amazing old trees out there and the weather was pretty nice. Little did I know it would be a perfect spot for a couples photo shoot. BTW I am having a little niece, how cool is that!
